General Guide to fire protection/Building Regulations for Mezzanine Floors

Generally, mezzanine floors used for any purpose other than storage (eg. Offices) or which occupy more than 50% of the space they are in, or are more than 20 metres in any direction, have t be fire protected (fire rated) in order to comply with current building/fire regulations.  In order  to achieve this it is necessary to install a one hour fire rated suspended ceiling beneath the mezzanine (or other certificated method) together with fire rated facia t all exposed faces of  the mezzanine and all the supporting columns have to be clad in a one hour column casings.
